4-H Summer Camp Counselors Needed!  Community Service Hours Opportunity!

4-H Camp Counselors Needed! 

Who can be a 4-H Camp Counselor?
All students ages 14-18 (as of June 1, 2018) may attend training to be a camp counselor.

What do Camp Counselors do?

•  Stay at Camp Cherry Lake in Madison, FL for a fun-filled week of waterfront activities like swimming and kayaking, camp games, educational classes, shooting sports, camp fires,   and so much more!
• Camp Counselors serve as youth role models, and help camp instructors with daily camp activities.
• Counselors supervise campers and are responsible for knowing the whereabouts of each camper in their charge at all times during duty hours.
• Counselors assist with other assigned tasks during the week of camp like participating in recreation, helping keep camp clean, and teaching educational classes.

Camp Counselor Trainings:
Counselors must participate in three trainings. Trainings are MANDATORY. Below are the 2018 training dates, times, and locations. Transportation to and from trainings out of our county is provided for all trainings except for the make-up training day at Cherry Lake.


April 12, 2018 from 6-8pm @ Gilchrist County Extension office 

May 5, 2018 from 8am-4pm @ Alachua County Extension Office 

June 8, 2018 from 8am-4pm @ Levy County Extension Office   

May 19, 2018 -Time TBA ** Make up training @ Camp Cherry Lake 

Camp Week: June 18-22, 2018

Application Deadline:
April 12, 2018. All counselors must submit an application to be considered, this can be completed at the first training or turned in to the 4-H office in advance.
