Parents - Please be on the look-out for information coming to you on Project Elephant. This project is an educational opportunity for your child and is meant to address rising rates of suicide across the nation. The initial step of this project includes a documentary called "Not Alone." The film is available on Netflix if you want to preview it before your child participates in the viewing. Project Elephant begins on Tuesday, so if you would like to opt out from your child viewing the documentary, please contact your school's Guidance Counselor by Monday.

6th grade students will be sending Christmas Cards to recovering soldiers, as well as some local Gilchrist County former students that are currently serving. We will gladly take donations of stamps or Christmas cards.

Due to the conditions continuing to deteriorate and winds being strong late into the evening not leaving adequate time to check for road closures, schools will be closed for all Gilchrist county students and staff tomorrow, Thursday, October 11. Schools will re-open on Friday, October 12. Activities such as practice and games can resume to their normal schedule starting at 3:00pm on Thursday, October 11th.

Superintendent Rankin is working closely with the Gilchrist County Emergency Management Team tracking Hurricane Michael. The GCSD will be taking the following steps to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and community: - All schools will be in session today (Tuesday, 10/9) with early release at 1:00pm - All school events after 6pm on Tuesday, Oct 9th will be cancelled - All schools will be closed for students and staff on Wednesday, Oct 10th We will make a determination about further school closures after the storm passes and we assess the damages. An announcement will be made by 6pm on Wednesday. If you have not yet downloaded the GCSD app, this is a good time to do so. Through the app, we will be able to send you push notifications in the event of no power.

On Monday, the MS Ag classes learned about nutrition and health for raiding show rabbits. Jordan Olson received the FFA Small Animal Proficiency Award for Florida in 2018, and a Gold Status at Nationals. Her focus is breeding and showing rabbits for FFA . Our students were able to practice the safe and proper way to handle a show a rabbit for judging.

There will be free sports physicals for football players and cheerleaders immediately after school on Wednesday, 4/18 in the Health Academy building. Sports physicals for all other sports will be on Wednesday, 5/16 immediately after school in the Health Academy building.

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) will be administered on Monday, April 23. JROTC cadets and other interested Juniors and Seniors need to sign up outside of Ms. Dana's office.
Varsity Cheerleading tryout packets are located in the front office at BHS. Packets must be completed and turned in to Coach Whittington no later than Friday, April 20 (he is available during high school lunch). In order to try out, you MUST have an updated sports physical.
Varsity football news! There will be an informational meeting this Wednesday immediately after school (3:10) for all 9th-11th grade students interested in playing varsity football for the 2018-19 school year.
The Bulldog 5K is this Saturday, April 7th, beginning at 8:00 AM at the BHS Track. All proceeds will go to the Relay for Life (American Cancer Society). SWI Photographers will be on hand at prom for pictures. Any student attending prom who wants to purchase pictures from SWI, please pick up a form in the front office at BHS.
Bell High School Junior Class is sponsoring the Junior Senior Prom, themed "A Night Under the Stars" on Friday, March 30, 2018 from 7:00 PM-11:00 PM at the Seven Hills Farm in Gilchrist County. The Junior Class is also hosting a "Prom Promise" event to promote prom night safety on the Bell High School campus on Thursday, March 29 from 11:25-3:10. We are encouraging ALL Juniors and Seniors to attend the event. All visitors attending the Prom Promise event must check in through the front office.
There will be an informational parent night for parents and students of 8th graders on Tuesday, 3/27 at 6:00 PM at the Trenton High School Auditorium. Information will include information regarding Career & Technical Programs, graduation requirements, virtual school, 18-credit option, dual enrollment, and more. Hope to see you there!

BHS Middle-School students have "linked" together to help raise money for the Gilchrist County Education Foundation Walk-A-Thon! Students purchased paper links to add to a chain, and 7th grade won with the most donations and the opportunity to watch their Science teacher (Mr. Collins) receive a "pie" in the face!
