BHS CELEBRATES LITERACY WEEK!

Signs posting “Find Yourself in a Book” and Literacy Week Activities

Guess the Reader- Pictures posted in cafeteria of teachers reading books with their faces hidden; students have to figure out who is reading what!

“Caught Reading” – Faculty/Staff/Admin. Provide students with tickets if caught reading outside of class time.  Student tickets are deposited in media center and drawn for “prizes” on Friday.

Admin./Coaches/Teachers “read aloud” an excerpt from a favorite book during morning announcements.  Students “call in” with their guess as to the title and/or author.  MS/HS

Book Swap: Students bring a new or slightly used AR book to school to “swap” or “donate” to     ELA/Reading classroom libraries

“Speed Date with a Book”: ELA/English –Book Pass-Students provided 3 minutes to preview a book, jot down Title/Author and note and pass the book to another student.

“Hats Off to Literacy”- Donate a dollar to wear a hat on Friday.   Money collected goes toward a school related fund raiser.
