Parents: Would you be interested in serving a one year term on the Bell Middle/High School Advisory Council for the 23-24 school year? If so, nominations are now open, and you can nominate yourself or another parent of a current Bell Middle/High School parent for two positions that are available on our SAC.
A few of the goals and purpose of the Council are:
*To provide parents, teachers, students and the community an opportunity to actively participate in the development of educational priorities, assessment of the schools' needs and development of a School Improvement Plan (SIP).
*To bring into closer relation the school, home, and community so that parents, teachers, and community members may cooperate in a positive way for the education of students.
*Provide a liaison between the school, school organizations and the neighborhood community.
To nominate a parent, please email douglasb@mygcsd.org, or leglerl@mygcsd.org with your nomination by Friday, September 8th. Elections will occur at the Varsity football game on a Friday night if necessary. Please give us a call at the school if there are any questions.

We were so honored at BHS to have Florida’s Lt. Governor Jeanette Nunez and the Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz stop by to visit our school today. They were impressed with how quickly Gilchrist County schools were able to reopen after Hurricane Idalia, and with the service our special needs shelter provided to so many from the surrounding communities during the storm. They also were able to visit with our JROTC and Health Academy programs, and hear about how awesome it is to be a Bulldog! Thank you so much for the visit!

All Gilchrist County Public Schools and the District office will be closed on Tuesday, August 29th and Wednesday, August 30th to allow everyone time to prepare for the impact of Idalia. We will provide updates as this situation unfolds. Stay safe!

The senior class will be hosting a silent auction on Thursday, August 24th, at the Bell vs. Trenton football game. We are in need of donations for this event. Please consider baking something (or let Publix do the baking) to donate for this special event.
Please contact Senior Sponsors Mrs. Janet Johnson (johnsonja@mygcsd.org) or Mrs. Sue Hurst (hursts@mygcsd.org) for more information! We are very appreciative of your support.

BHS would like to extend our congratulations to the following students for their performance at the 2023 State Track and Field Meet yesterday! Nicole S. won her 2nd consecutive STATE TITLE in the Girls High Jump beating out 17 other extremely talented high jumpers from around the state of Florida in one of the last events of the evening. Nicole cleared the bar at 5 feet, 3 and 3 quarter inches to bring back to Bell the gold medal!
Corbin A. also represented Bell by throwing the discus at 121 feet. Corbin was the only 8th grader in a group of mostly junior and senior throwers and even though he did not place in the top 8, he did an amazing job of competing in his event that was also delayed by several hours due to weather.
Our student athletes did a phenomenal job at the state level and we are so proud of them! Coaches Brad and Libby Surrency would like to thank all of the Bell Community for supporting our track and field program and our hardworking kids that have practiced through the cold, rain, and heat and have been dedicated to their sport since the beginning of February.

The Runnin' Bulldog 2023 Track & Field Banquet will be held this Friday, 5/19 at 6:30 in the Iris Roberts Auditorium at BHS. All track and field members and their families are invited to attend. Please dress in your Sunday best. Please contact Coach Surrency or Mrs. Libby with any questions.
